My work explores the relationship between physical spaces, and the objects that we fill them with. Often focusing on decor and household ornaments that become standard to have within the home. The work reduces these adherently empty objects to simplified symbols that then can be rearranged and compressed to carry a formal sensibility. Currently my work has been most focused on the idea of the painting serving as ornament, with the stock subject matter of landscape, still life, and portraiture becoming knickknacks. My paintings distill, and consolidate these ideas in hopes to highlight both the good and bad with in the home decoration vernacular.
