Kelly Neibert (b. 1987) is a Chicago based artist originally from the small, rural town of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. She previously studied at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, and at the New York Center for Art and Media Studies, in New York City, receiving a BA in Studio Art in 2010. She completed a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Painting and Drawing at SAIC in 2016 and is currently a second-year MFA candidate. Her current body of work is based on the interiors of the places she has lived, as well as other well explored spaces that she can recall from memory. Exploratory drawings and collages become the basis for large oil works on canvas, wherein she merges wonky, awkward, and impossible perspectives with mundane, everyday still lives and occurrences, resulting in paintings that are tenuously based in reality and also dreamlike.
