—> PRINTER LIMITATIONS + BORDERLESS PRINTING

The Service Bureau printers cannot print borderless or full-bleed. This includes Latex + Inkjet on the roll media and all sheet sizes with Riso and Laser printing.

All Laser and Riso prints will have a roughly 0.125-0.25″ white border, we recommend to size your file to be smaller or to leave a white border on your images.

You can also select ‘Fit to Media’ when selecting the Media type and we will shrink or enlarge your file to fit the paper size you selected.
If you need your file to be full-bleed/borderless you must provide bleed and crop marks (and likely select a larger sheet to accommodate the crop marks).

WHAT IS LASER PRINTING

Laser printing is an electrostatic digital printing process. It produces high-quality text and graphics (and moderate-quality photographs) by repeatedly passing a laser beam back and forth over a negatively charged cylinder called a “drum” to define a differentially charged image.

VideoCanon Imagepress Series Technology

The drum then selectively collects electrically charged powdered ink (toner), and transfers the image to paper, which is then heated in order to permanently fuse the text, imagery, or both, to the paper.

Below we have spelled out the differences between the two types of laser printing we currently offer.

Due to the nature of color laser printing, colors will shift throughout the day and from day to day. We are unable to exactly match prints made at separate times.

Not all visible elements are able to be printed, some vibrant colors and gradients are not able to be rendered. Using the recommended PDF export settings & color profile with help get the closet possible print.

All laser orders are submitted through the Digital Storefront. The system will provide a price quote for you before you check out, so you’ll know exactly how much to have on your ArtiCard when you come pick up your order.

We have 2 different types of laser printer technology to choose from at the Service Bureau.

Canon imagePress

Canon Vario Print (Monopress)

Specifications:Specifications:
Our Canon imagePress machines are our highest quality color laser printers are ideal for printing final class projects, presentations, and portfolio pieces including but not limited to flyers, posters, saddle stitch booklets and perfect bound books. The Canon VarioPrint is our cost effective black and white laser printer. It’s based on the unique Océ DirectPress® Technology, a highly stable technology that prints consistently high-quality images on a wide range of media.
Prints both color and black and white. Black and white only.
Surface of the prints will be shiny as toner is heated while being laid on the paper. Toner will appear flat as it is being pressed onto the paper. Very little heat is being used during the process. Works well with textured paper and varying weights.
You can still print in B/W on this printer.

Submit with the Color Laser product and choose the B/W option under Print In Color/Sides under the Print Options. This will alert the tech to use the B/W during the print process. B&W Printing is much cheaper!
Any objects in your files that are color will automatically be made grayscale.

TEST PRINTS + TURNAROUND TIMES

Standard turnaround is 24 hours for all laser orders. There are no Rush options for Laser jobs.

We do not do “proofs” before running larger jobs.

If you are running a large job and want to see a proof, turn in a job for only 1 copy of your document. This will be completed in 24 hours.

Once you are satisfied with the outcome you will then turn in the final order for the number of copies you want.
