FAST TIME / SLOW TIME: SPLIT DECISIONS
This exhibition is organized by students in the Senior Capstone course: Studio Symposium: Fast/Slow Time, taught by faculty members Jeremy Biles and Judith Brotman. The class takes an interdisciplinary approach to making, exploring a wide variety of mediums and techniques, with a special focus on the cultivation of habits and activities that will sustain artistic practice after graduation.
Grasping Recollection
This exhibition is organized by students in the Senior Capstone course: BFA Exhibition and Beyond, taught by faculty member Michael Ryan. This class uses this exhibition as a starting point for ongoing critical inquiry into student's creative practice and its place in the 21st Century, leading to an assessment of previous work towards the development of a professional portfolio.
The Head Sinks First

This class focuses on ways the live body informs a practice, how it may influence curatorial decisions, and insert itself in a durational manner into the exhibition.

In particular, this class supports the development of work for participation in the Spring Undergraduate Exhibition, building a strong portfolio, and planning for post-SAIC life.
Prescribed Connections
This exhibition is organized by students in the Senior Capstone course: Beyond Crit: Language and Interpretation, taught by faculty member Michelle Grabner. In particular, this course addresses alternative positions and modes of interpretation. It examines the institutionalized authority of suspicious and symptomatic analysis of artwork while offering up compelling arguments for a more inclusive range of affective styles and modes of post-critical interpretation.
The Reach // The Real
This exhibition is organized by students in the Senior Capstone course: Exhibitions: Strategies and Craft, taught by faculty member Danny Floyd. In particular, this course models the collaborative practice of exhibition craft by devising this curated section of the Undergraduate Exhibition together, taking on both critical and practical aspects of exhibitions from writing conceptual supporting texts to proper, "nuts-and-bolts" methods of installation and preparator work.
Transitional Practices
This exhibition is organized by students in the Senior Capstone course: Transitional Practices, taught by faculty members Jeffrey Prokash and Alison Ruttan. This course is designed to help students recognize patterns of inquiry within their practice and to help contextualize their work in relation to other creative and/or scholarly practices.
