Assyrians are an Iraqi Indigenous group that has face Diaspora through their displacement. As a first generation Assyrian born in America, I feel like I am in a “cultural limbo” where my identity does not feel enough for either side. I created a traditional Assyrian fiber piece called a “Yalliktah,” a noise maker that is used for celebration, to celebrate my Diaspora in order to heal my identity.
