Image courtesy of the artist.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This week we are excited to welcome German artist and filmmaker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexgerbaulet.de\/\">Alex Gerbaulet<\/a> to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/saic.edu\/cate\">Conversations at the Edge<\/a>\u00a0for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saic.edu\/cate\/currentschedule\/alex-gerbaulet-digging-deep.html\">screening of her experimental documentaries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bridging the gap between analysis and poetry, Gerbaulet&#8217;s films confront problematic histories and the complex narratives\u00a0hidden within personally and collectively repressed memory.<\/p>\n<p>Included in this screening is Gerbaulet&#8217;s 2015 film,\u00a0<em>Schicht (Shift)<\/em>. Part autobiographical and part critical observation, the film juxtaposes the artist&#8217;s personal archive of family photographs and her mother&#8217;s diary excerpts with found footage and historical images.
