The influential work of Chicago-based new media artist jonCates mixes the urgency of punk with the poetics of glitch. His latest project is a collaborative, multiplatform critique of the myths and ideology of the American west. Released as a feature film, virtual reality game, soundtrack, and book, <\/span>\u9b3c\u93ae (Ghosttown)<\/span> showcases the work of a number of activists, artists, musicians working with similar ideas. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The film stars <\/span>Siera Begaye<\/span><\/a>, a model, activist, and <\/span>member of Din\u00e9 tribe of the Navajo Nation, as herself; artist and cultural theorist <\/span>Vanalyne Green<\/span><\/a> as The Voice of the Future Cowgirl; photographer<\/span> Emily Mercedes Rich<\/span><\/a> as The Cowgirl; new media and performance artist <\/span>Lal Avgen<\/span><\/a> as The Voice of The Cowgirl; and new media artist <\/span>Ei Jane Janet Lin<\/span><\/a> as The Girl From Gold Mountain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Music for the soundtrack for <\/span>\u9b3c\u93ae (Ghosttown)<\/span><\/i> was composed by multimedia artist <\/span>Ambrosia Bardos<\/span><\/a>, who performs under the name <\/span>Morher<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0 as well as\u00a0Hung Tzu-Ni<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Cyrus Pireh<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Ivor Lane<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>PREYER (Ebony Miranda<\/a> and Adam Briggs),\u00a0<\/span>dolphin midwives,<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>That Faithful Engine, and those Blessed Instruments,\u00a0<\/span>Josh Spelman-Hall, and\u00a0<\/span>jonCates. The artist, radio producer, and curator\u00a0Jeff Kolar <\/a>served as sound designer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
