Cultural identity is a contested topic. I reside in a Western culture but am from Eastern roots. Does estrangement bring similar or different thoughts to mind in different cultures? How have Eastern and Western cultures mixed in the past, and what came from it? All these questions create complex personal content, which I will deconstruct and then reconstruct.
My work focuses on estrangement and Preservation. This exploration is deeply rooted in my sense of abandonment growing up. I found therapy and rebirth through art. Art enables me to deconstruct my perception of complex interpersonal relationships and reconstruct them into universal struggles by encapsulating them in a sense of loss.
