Eric Elli
ngsen has taught architecture full-time at the Illinois Institute of Technology since 2006, where he also helped initiate and served as the assistant director of the masters in landscape architecture program, the University of the Arts, Berlin (as director and teacher at the Institute for Spatial Experimentation, started by Olafur Eliasson), Cornell University, and SAIC Chicago, as well as teaching part-time at the University of Toronto. As part of the Institute for Spatial Experimentation, Eric organized, taught and collaborated with universities in Ethiopia, Switzerland, Sao Paulo, Japan, China and the US (Harvard). In 2009 Eric opened Species of Space as a platform for sense based experimentation, the spatial imagination, and materializing embodied cognition through installations, performances, actions, choreography and design. In the spring of 2016, Eric and his partner will open LEEP, an architecture and landscape studio focusing on food, public space, urbanism and play.
