“Remnants”
Concept | With research based in psychological theories on social identity, this look explores the visual effects of violence caused by human divisions. The garment juxtaposes hard surfaces vs. soft, and protected vs. vulnerable parts of the body, all anchored by constraint.
Bio | Alexa Kudrak is from the Chicagoland area and is currently a sophomore at SAIC. She uses fashion as a way to visually explore the conditions of the human experience, focusing on ideas of opposing forces and how they inevitably interact. With a background in costume design, including historical reproduction and corsetry, her garments have a theatrical element integrated within shape, construction, and fabric treatments.
