“Parfum”
Concept | My concept arose from my obsession with vintage makeup containers. I have collected them since I was a young girl. During my research I collected images of compacts, lipstick tubes and many, many perfume bottles, from the 1920’s to the early 1940’s. In this collection I have explored how these containers hold different beautifying elements, and how they may beautify the body.
Bio | My practice is constantly being inspired by imagery from the past. I look to artists like Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior and John willie, to get inspired when I’m designing. I love to find images that I feel a connection to, and turn them into collages on the body, that can eventually become my garments. Getting dressed everyday has always been a very transformative process for me. I strongly believe in the art of dressing, as a way to become someone else, whoever you want to be, in fact. I Remember watching films like “Rocky Horror Picture Show” when I was a child, and being in awe of the power that makeup and clothing had on someone. I strive to help others turn themselves into beautiful individuals with my work.
