“Let’s be friends again, me myself and I”
Concept | In our rapidly changing industrialized world, we become absent of the bodies that we inhabit. We move tensely through our restrictive, compact, and concrete urban jungles. “Let’s Be Friends Again: Me,Myself, and I”, is a collection that encourages the liberation of the body physically and emotionally. My incorporation of knitted materials is inspired by the biology of ‘fascia’, the thin sheath of fibrous tissue that encloses muscles and organs. The knitted material allows the body to move freely as the garments drape, spill, and cling to the body in intuitive ways. Warm, bright glowing hues challenge the victimhood of loneliness to embrace the joy of solitude.
Bio | Ivy is a Chinese designer and artist who focus on fashion and textiles. She is interested in interactive garment, that closely related to the idea of self care in the 21st century. Ivy was raised in Shenzhen, China, a city that was developed almost overnight. Questioning the system behind the idea of “always want more” and “what’s next” is a important part of Ivy’s work. She sees fashion as a lifestyle, a choice that everyone has the right to make.
