“Raw to Cooked”

Concept | The study of body modification as a form of extreme grotesque beauty.

Bio | Using the human body as a physical mapping process, Madeline Felauer fabricates whimsical designs that embody a sense of irony which works to challenge the ideals of the form while displaying the complicated relationship between the fine line of “beauty” and “ugliness”. She works to blend the notion of the appallingly refined with her delicate beadwork, usage of physical body parts within her designs and deliberate placement of color. She currently is obsessed with creating lifelike skin, with patterns of freckles, moles, birthmarks, bruises and hair.
