“26.11”

Concept | For this collection, I chose to focus on the 26/11 terrorist attacks that took place in my city, Mumbai. In particular, the attack that took place in the Leopold café. It was a place where people and their loved ones would unite. This setting was completely disrupted in these attacks, families were separated and it caused a lot of chaos. Through my collection, I want to focus on the harshness of the event with the softness and grief the people affected went through. I will be using the disrupted tables as a symbol of the harshness and Marie Gold ( being an auspicious flower in India) as a symbol for the separation of families (separation of petals) in my garments.

Bio | In the past year, I have developed my designs to be more architectural yet soft and relevant to my concept. I find myself leaning towards designing garments that have more structure and defy gravity. I like to engage in topics that have relevance in my personal life/ have affected me in some way and my culture.
