“Dissociative Identity Disorder”
Concept | The concept originates from a person call Billy Milligan whom has Dissociative Identity Disorder. He has 24 personalities in his body so when those “people” coming out, he will not have the memory of the time periods. Hence, in both his body and mind, everything is chaotic. The personalities do many terrible things like robbery, rape and so on, but Billy himself does not do anything and he is a really nice and kind person; he donates all the money he earns to the charity. In this collection l want to show the chaos in his mind, the restriction and harm he gets from the public and the contrast between the personalities and Billy Milligan.
Bio | Jiahui Owen Zhong, born in Xi’an China, is a fashion designer. After two years studying of Architecture in The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign(UIUC), he decided to transfer to School of Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC) to learn Fashion, which is what he really want to do. During the three years studying, he had an internship in Shanghai, China to help high school students learn how to sew and embroidery; at the last year of the studying, he won the Fashion Council Fellowship Scholarship at 2018 SAIC Scholarship Judging. After the three years studying, Owen had made a bond with fabric, textile and garments; he gradually begun to know how to put himself as a part of the garments he did; also, he found that he is more and more interested in design, embroidery, fabric manipulations and color choice of fabric. In stead of fashion, Owen also love doing volunteer and photography. He went to Kenya for a month and half long volunteer, building the visitor center, restroom and teaching. He have been doing photography for four years. He loves nature because he believes the most powerful and magic thing in the world is nature; he also loves what he sees on the street because he thinks what a person can see and remember is what he would feel at that moment.
