“It’s Not Déjà Vu”

Concept | It’s Not Déjà Vu is focused on the playfulness of dress up and how it becomes a bridge for time. As a child I would collect things here and there, wearing plastic buckets as hats while adorned in my mother’s jewelry. To my child self, all the objects I collected were of equal value whether it be a piece of plastic found on the ground, or my mother’s pearls.
This collection has become an investigation of how a collection of things from all over the place can be combined into a sense of timelessness, a physical representation of the past, present, and future.

Bio | Without her even noticing, she had become “weird” in the eyes of others. From her bright colored shoes, to the stickers on her laptop, Tianna Liu had accidentally made herself different. When she was young, she just liked the things she liked and didn’t think much about it. For the longest time she didn’t realize she was ignoring gender norms, trends, or people’s glaring eyes. After growing up she began to realize that many of the things she enjoyed were considered out of the norm, and that she had set herself up to be different without realizing it. Instead of hiding her “weirdness” she decided to use it to create a new perspective in fashion. With playful materials and color combinations, she strives to create whimsical designs that question societal norms.
