Traditionally, the fashion spotlight has been focused on the glamorous runways with their skinny models and dazzling luxury products. On the one hand, it seems that top designers serve those at the top of the pyramid. Moreover, with the rise of we-media, tons of YouTubers, Instagram influencers, and idols, a new culture is emerging. Hence, fashion becomes a mass hobby for younger generations, especially girls. More and more designers draw attention to the effects of Fast Fashion on the environment and people.

Yet on the other hand, ordinary people strain to buy expensive products from famous brands, in an attempt to fulfill their vanity. This is a bad example for younger generations, especially for girls whose self-image matters only in an external way about appearances. While Fast Fashion may be criticized by designers, a majority of people who are suffering from financial crises only can afford the cheaper products from a fast-fashion brand. The ongoing conflicts between artists and scientists, the rich and the poor, the genders, and the different generations, concern me. I’d like to achieve a balance in my work by integrating scientific and humanity concepts — the other side of the sphere — into fashion. I will design garments through the lens of an artist, architect, scientist and sociologist. I will endow my design process and final presentation with research, knowledge and information that educates, enlightens, and inspires in terms of science and academics.
