Accessory Design
Spatial Habitats

Kathy Lao is a multimedia artist studying in SAIC who is interested in exploring visual and sensual depth in her work. In doing so, she experiments with a variety of contrast in colors, materials, surface manipulations and textures to convey her design concept. She combines unusual and unconventional materials to transform the depths and dimensions of her work which offers another layer of meaning/ interpretation, reflected through her chosen atmosphere/space.

In creating and designing products worn on the body, she combines soft and hard materials such as chains and fur to convey the mixture of masculinity and femininity. Her Furaganza collection explores the double function of both a fur hat worn on the head and a fur handbag carried by hand when shifted upside down.
