Mariana Espinosa

1st Year Sophomore Design & Construction

Mariana Espinosa is a Texas-born, Latin-raised, Chicago-based fashion illustrator and designer focused on sustainable, inclusive, gender-neutral designs. Born with scoliosis and having grown up with back braces, her first introduction to fashion became plagued with problems. These experiences piqued her interest in adaptive clothing and designs that celebrated and fitted all bodies.

Currently, her work is dedicated to confronting questions of identity, ethics, education, and public service. Sustainability has also grown deep roots in her work through the form of natural dyes and recycled textiles. Additionally, her work often finds additional inspiration from architecture, astronomy, horticulture, and Hispanic culture.
