Emory Hammond

In this collection I explore the uncomfortable liminal space of becoming an adult, in my personal life and throughout history. Topics such as comfort, play, regression, expectation, inferiority, facade and shame inform my work as I attempt to materialize what it means to grow up and still to feel forever incomplete as a feature of the human condition. In my look, I draw influence from the tailored suits and military influences of early 20th century children’s clothes, my own childhood obsession with menswear, dickeys, and the evolution of the diaper.
