I define fashion as the tradition and innovation coexisting in a wearable art form. The concept of this collection started out by exploring the works of my father who is a master tailor. From precisely measured numbers to hand finishing the last stitch, the journey of his mastering perfection has ended after 45 years. Recognizing the layers of work hidden under the suiting fabrics, I was inspired to rethink, reinterpret, and recreate his master skills in an unconventional form. The main idea focuses on dissecting the anatomy of “lost art”- bespoke tailoring.
This is a homage to my father and all the tailors for their craftsmanship and the mastery of precision and details.
Master tailor: A master tailor cuts patterns, operates the machines and their hands that make your clothes, and understands completely how the clothes are constructed and sewn to provide the best fit and comfort possible. A true master tailor understands fabric and drape.
Bespoke tailoring/ suit: “A bespoke suit is cut by an individual and made by highly skilled individual craftsmen. The pattern is made specifically for the customer and the finished suit will take a minimum of 50 hours of hand work and require a series of fittings.”
Anatomy: the science that studies the structure of the body; study of inside and outside of body
