Adam Kinner


Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts

Adam Kinner is an artist and performer living and working in Tio’tia:ke (Montreal). Having trained in music, he makes work on the thresholds of choreography, sound, and visual arts, collaborating with artists from dance and music. His projects are often research-based, having to do with historical performances that become transformed through an attention to listening, tone, and the music inherent to political speech. Recent projects include solo exhibitions at the Foreman Gallery (Sherbrooke), Artexte (Montreal) and the Joliette Museum of Art (Quebec). His work has been shown at galleries, venues and festivals across Canada and abroad, including at Usine C, the Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery, the Contemporary Art Museum of the Laurentians, Art Gallery of York University (Toronto), Astérides (Marseille, FR), Fierce Festival (Birmingham, UK), and Maison Folie (Mons, BE). In 2017 he was a fellow at Vila Sul in Bahia, Brazil. He was born in Washington, D.C.
