The selfie project is a study of women in media and society, and considers the concept of women’s work within the western civilization. Each tile is hand-painted with watercolor and dye, stitched and quilted onto batting, then stretched onto a ridged backing. When hung together, the work creates a tension between the history of painting, quilting, and printmaking. The project is a working series with pieces being created and displayed daily representing the mass production of images created by women today.
