Alisa Maiboroda

Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment

Alisa Maiboroda is a Russian-American artist, creator, designer, and digital fabrication expert. She holds a Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment degree from SAIC. She worked under the mentorship of Nick Cave and Liat Smestad. Alisa resides currently in Chicago, IL.

Alisa’s artwork explores the relationship between humans and nature. The basic questions that she poses in her projects are “Do we, humans, have the right to interfere with natural processes and to change them according to our needs?” “What will nature’s reciprocal reaction be?”

Through her work, she explores the boundaries between fashion, sculpture, and architecture. Alisa uses draping, modeling, molding, and 3D printing to produce her art objects. She gets her inspiration from experimenting with new materials and renovating original techniques.
