Ash Ackerman
As an artist, I am interested in uniting the visible world with the underlying, unseen world of the microscopic. I aim to reveal what is often overlooked: e.g., microscopic biomes, plant root structures, human bodily systems. My work is primarily concerned with themes and concepts of capturing the rhythm of nature to create a dialog between the natural world and our own. My practice explores ways to communicate by adapting organic or biological characteristics and manifesting them into sculptural and graphical forms.
Speaking specifically about the MFA show, I was planning to create an interactive space that pulls the viewer into an immersive sensory experience. My installation will simulate walking through an aspen forest, examining and revealing how all the trees are interconnected.
