Théo Bignon

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Fiber and Material Studies

Théo Bignon is a French artist living and working in the United States with an educational background in political science and a lifelong attraction for textiles. Since pursuing his MFA, his work includes objects, sculptures, embroideries, and built environments that speak to practices of desire, cruising, and queer community gathering. In particular, by looking to sites that are often considered invisible or that are thought to be better left unseen—the urinal, the sex club and gay bar, the stain, the undergarment, and the traces of other deviants who came before him. His work embraces the erotic possibilities of the everyday object, and the ways that queer decoration can transform and misuse the mundane.
