Tim is a designer and educator, currently based in Chicago.

He utilizes shifts in perception to deconstruct systems of power and is thinking a lot about access right now. With a broad background in a variety of disciplines, he works collaboratively to promote the political efficacy of design through the perspectival shifting of optics, and activates its potential to guide imaginations toward new futures.

Sam Link and Tim Karoleff designed and fabricated EULA Mobile Screen as a way to physically perform institutional transparency. Referencing the legal precedents of End User License Agreements and Terms of Service statements that are created to code privacy transgressions behind unassuming veils that bind users to contracts, regardless of their consent; EULA Mobile Screen obfuscates important data while masquerading as an ubiquitous object that is activated by user presence, likewise, regardless of consent.

Sam and Tim practice design as a political act and crafted EULA Mobile Screen as a rhetorical tool to amplify suppressed voices. Behaving as an autonomous object, EULA Mobile Screen reflects and rearranges its environment, challenging perceived norms to promote emancipatory action.
