Apostolos Doucakis

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Painting and Drawing

Apostolos Doucakis (b. 1997, Athens, Greece) received a BFA in Painting from Wimbledon College of Arts (London, England) in 2019 and is a 2022 MFA candidate in the painting & drawing department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He also completed a one-year Foundation degree at Loughborough University (Loughborough, England), and a six-month exchange program at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien (Vienna, Austria), in addition to starting the MFA program at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2019, until transferring to SAIC in 2020. Apostolos’ background is in painting but has recently moved into the expanded fields of film, sound, and performance due to personal conflicts with the specificity of painting. Apostolos’ current practice deals with human intimacy, language, and communication, and uses space to create emotional situations.
