Blake Fall-Conroy

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Art and Technology Studies

Blake Fall-Conroy is an artist and self-taught mechanical engineer. Based in upstate New York, he received a BFA in sculpture from Cornell University in 2006. As an engineer, Fall-Conroy worked for 11 years designing and fabricating remote-controlled industrial robots that climb and inspect vertical surfaces. As an artist, his artmaking practice is conceptually motivated, commenting on a wide range of social issues from consumerism and the American spectacle, to surveillance and the ubiquitous use of technology. His projects often incorporate mechanical, electronic, or programmed components as well as objects or motifs found within the routine of daily life.
