Master of Design in Designed Objects

Chongsheng Zhao, an old-school designer, always tries to explore some designs which able to change and influence the action, activity, and relations of human beings. He uses design as a tool to guide people’s life and society to a better place. His designs are always the balance point of logic and emotion as well as usage and elegance. Also, he treats himself as a maker. Making something is always his interest, pleasure, and passion.

Chongsheng Zhao is an industrial designer and maker. He was born in 1998. He is from Guangzhou, China. He received his BA in the industrial design department, Massachusetts College of Art & Design in 2020. He is a current candidate for the MD in Design of Designed Objects in the School of Art Institution of Chicago.

Redesign the wheels of the vehicle. Applicated with the In-Wheel-Motor and Low-Pressure-Tire. The wheel will make the vehicle more flexible and able to adapt to different road/land situations and weather.

As a traditional culture, the Tea Ceremony was popular for a long period. However, with the accelerated pace of modern life, the young generation has gradually lost the will to participate in this ceremony. In order to raise the young generation's interest in tea parties, I redesigned the indispensable protagonist in tea parties, which is the tea set, based on the aesthetic perspective, mental activities and living habits of today’s young generation. The tea set will make the tea party more convenient and relaxing while increasing the participation of each participant.

This windproof umbrella is designed based on aerodynamics to balance the wind pressure above and under the surface of the umbrella.

Redesign the Kitchen knife to protect the new cookers. Compare with the traditional knives, the handle of this safety knife will be more controllable. The sheath of the knife will protect the hand which holds the food.
