Ivan Tsai is an artist, educator, and technician currently based in Chicago. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BFA degree in Ceramics and a BA degree in Design Studies. His past work focused on ceramic craft primarily concerned with technical execution and minimalist aesthetic. While clay and ceramics are still the primary medium, recent works explore mixed media (recycled materials), temporary sculptural installation, and performance. Ivan uses these processes to explore the anthropological question of “what is human?” Ivan Tsai is a 2022 MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute Chicago.
