Trained as an industrial designer and graphic designer, Johnny Jiasheng Chen is recognized for his innovative design skills and cross-disciplinary practices, including digital fabrication, commercial product design, graphic design, and crafts. Johnny Jiasheng Chen’s work has evolved from goal-oriented design to searching for new possibilities and new experiences in human future development. He believes every designed object is a convex ideological mirror, amplifying its creators’ minds and practices. Thus, conducting well-rounded design research and seeking systematic solutions are the key points to creating “the good design.”

Johnny is currently completing two projects. The first is his thesis project, “Design Object for Environmental Equilibrium,” creating new interactions between humans and invisible environmental elements. The second is an external partnership project, “Second Chance,” by altering wood’s properties to explore innovative material usages.
