Margaret Simic

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Fiber and Material Studies

Margaret Simic is a Louisville-raised artist in the fiber and material studies MFA program. She is currently residing in Chicago after receiving her BFA at the University of Kentucky. Her works involve themes of single-income households, consumption, consumerism, assimilation, and class from the perspective of a child of an incarcerated parent. She uses embellishments to bring items of low value into realms of luxury to discuss growing up in poverty while wanting to obtain wealth as it is presented through media.
