Francesca Bayegan

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Painting and Drawing

Francesca has been featured in group shows in Houston. She curated a large exhibition that included 50 artists and had two site specific installations. Francesca’s artistic formation is deeply rooted in her academic experience, she completed her Bachelors in Philosophy and her Masters in Art History. Her paintings draw heavily from her studies in Roman religion. She is constantly drawn to Roman art as well as Baroque and Edwardian art as they are temporal reflections of one another that seem to stylistically engage us towards the same concerns of the changing of the centuries. Her art also plays on the theme of chaos and the beauty that comes from destructive forces. All of Francesca’s art deploys the visual markers of decadence such as ruins, bones, or melted plastic as means to celebrate the beauty of fleeting grandeur. Her art is a dialogue between trash and luxury that celebrates the hollow beauty of existence.
