EmmyShell Barnes (Studio BFA 2024) has a body of work that aims to provoke dogmatic mainstream assumptions. The utmost themes present are futility, wildness, and convention; particularly, rejection of hegemonic respectability ideals. She opted out of the BFA show, rather, devised and performed a one time 30-minute live-action performance entitled “Pageantry” in the SAIC Impact Festival.
