Joram Ruoran Chen is a multi-disciplinary artist from China, currently based in Chicago, IL. Her work explores the complex power dynamics in both interpersonal and cultural contexts, as well as the tensions between personal autonomy and societal conformity. Following a pattern of pluralism, she employs printmaking, installation, drawing, and performance to examine the different societal expectations due to gender and social dynamics. Through this lens, Chen seeks to unravel the forces that shape our understanding of freedom, value, and identity.
Her work has showcased in various institutions including Zhejiang Art Museum, China Academy of Art Museum, Cang Art Museum, Liangzhu Culture and Arts Center, and China Academy of Oil Painting.
