Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Performance

Nicole Daskas is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist pursuing an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She earned her BFA with an emphasis in performance and video art from Chapman University. Her work is focused on feminist issues such as making visible gender violence and gender inequity. Originally from Las Vegas, Daskas often stages performative works in the Mojave Desert. She is interested in ideas of monstrosity, particularly in the transition from girlhood to womanhood. She is influenced by spiders and spiderwebs, representations of domestic space and femininity. Daskas works across performance, photo, fibers, and writing. She has received funding to support research around body fluids in performance art, and has exhibited in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.
