Sloan Klusendorf

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Film, Video, New Media, and Animation

Chicago-born artist and filmmaker, Sloan Klusendorf, creates work that explores the purpose of celluloid practice in a contemporary context and the blurring of perceptions around truth and documentation. Sloan’s artwork crosses over an interdisciplinary practice including film, video, photo, writing, and installation pulling concepts from Sloan’s intimacy with her body and forensic exploitation of her own life. Under a queer lens, Sloan’s focus further expands the interpretation of her artwork; she is nodding to the still and moving images of the sexual liberation movement of the 60’s, an era of cinema that Sloan connects to the contemporary use of celluloid and the gender liberation movement today.
