Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Sound

Terry Xu hopes to express his thought process and provoke people to think through his sound works. He is interested in visualization of sound works, sound installation, and spatialized audio. At the same time, he also has been trying to become a video game sound designer and creator of audio tracks for video games and video productions.

Shower Bottle, 2023, Glass bottle, speaker, amplifier

This Sound Installation work puts a small speaker into a glass soda bottle and hangs it up high. The speaker makes a sound similar to the bursting of soda bubbles, but it's probably more like a shower head.

Cardboard Box, 2023, One cardboard box (20 x 20 x 20 in.), 2 large speakers (outside), 4 small speakers (inside), one small recorder (inside)

This Sound Installation work will initially consist of four speakers inside a cardboard box, a recorder, and two speakers outside. At the beginning of the exhibition, the internal speakers will play a recording and the recorder will start recording automatically. The loudspeakers will play back the recording at regular intervals. The work expresses the echoes in different spaces and tries to explore the relationship between sound and space.
