Tong Liu 刘童
Tong Liu (b. 1995, China) is a conceptual artist and works in multiple media.
He focuses on making things up by upsetting contexts, expanding with layers, misdirecting the viewer, minimizing meaning, and exhausting possibilities. His practice concentrates on concepts that are triggered by the logical structure of artworks, interrogating the actions and tools of making art and the immediate relationship in actual space with given artworks, by which they ultimately intervene with reality.
He received his BFA in Sculpture from China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2021, and is currently pursuing the MFA program at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His past work has been shown at Art Beijing, XYZ Art Gallery, CAFA Art Museum in Beijing, BIG HOUSE in Wuhan, Tao Xichuan Art Museum in Jingdezhen and Co-Prosperity, SAIC Gallery in Chicago.
