My name is Danielle Swan, I am currently a MAATC student in my third year at SAIC. As an art therapist, I am dedicated to exploring and understanding the impact of expressive therapies on socio-emotional learning and identity development with youth and young adults. My personal art practice incorporates material exploration as a way to synthesize my own Black identity, biopsychosocial theory, and my work as an art therapist.
Still is an exhibition of personal artwork alongside a practical response to establishing a virtual art therapy practice. The website (https://heartspace2021.wixsite.com/mysite-1) is a platform designed for participants to engage in expressive new media and consistent creative journaling. he(Art) space, is to build and engage communities in group-led discussions and art-making with the option to interact with an art therapist individually or in community groups. Bi-weekly prompts are generated from a curriculum focused on healthy identity development and online community discussions.
