Isissia Drake is a painter and art instructor. Her work currently includes paintings in watercolor and acrylic as well as illustrations in ink, graphite, and charcoal. She is interested in creating art that broadens, celebrates, and reflects a more authentic view of blackness shifting stereotypical images in media.

Dear Chicago is a visual love letter that affirms the strength and resiliency of South Side residents while countering overly negative perceptions of South Side Communities. Using anonymous quotes of real experiences, this public art project gives a more authentic reflection of who we are as a community and our spirit to keep going
