sarj is a Mexican immigrant, writer, multidisciplinary artist, activist and art therapist-in-training based in Chicago’s Southwest side. a Chicago Public Schools graduate, they earned their Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts and Women’s and Gender Studies from Carleton College in 2017. they describe their studio art practice as an unfinished quilt, embroidering pieces together in different mediums. sarj is an abolitionist and thrives to debunk all forms of oppression – especially white supremacy – in their life, in themself and in art therapy. they believe in the power of community care, compassion and radical love.
