I practice art in Existentialism by which I don’t refute that the world is cruel and ridiculous. Prettifying or simplifying reality is not what I am purchasing as an artist. However, it doesn’t mean the focal point of art should be recreating the terrifying appearance. The focus of my work is to find comfort and control. In sum, I believe that in order to achieve comfort, the first thing to do is to accept the existence of discomfort.
In addition, I value the viewers. Even though it is impossible to forecast what people will receive in front of my work, I try to reach the level where what I am expressing is close to what the viewers obtain. Added to the idea that I’m not only creating for myself, allowing people to be vulnerable and experience danger in a safe way is where I believe the power of art is.
