Below is a useful guide for resources we circulate in the Media Center and some we recommend for purchase to aid in hybrid and virtual teaching.

CAMPUS SMART CLASSROOMS

Instructional spaces equipped with installed audiovisual & presentation devices. Smart classrooms on campus are equipped with an instructional console or rack containing laptop ports & a Blu-ray/CD/DVD player, all connected to a remote-controlled video projection & audio system. Specialized classrooms may also be equipped with Apple computers as well as digital visual presenters (that double as overhead projectors). Additionally, some classrooms include student computer workstations. Most instructor computers are set up to mirror the General Access computer lab or classroom computer stations.

CAMPUS LAB FACILITIES

The Media Center facilitates access to the following Editing & Production Labs. Reservations are required and follow regular Media Center equipment policies. Access is limited to Same Day & Overnight usage only for these spaces.
The editing and production facilities circulated from the Media Centers are available for Overnight AccessBeginning September 1, building security desks will be staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and building entrances will be locked from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; however, overnight access is available, including to those who have a studio in 33 East Washington. Anyone wishing to use campus facilities after hours must obtain an overnight pass here.

 

GENERAL Access Labs

Sharp Documentation Room (SP 336)

This shooting space is intended as a clean room for documenting work or shooting photo/video. This space is not for the creation of any type of wet or dry media, class or group meetings, musical performances, or lectures. Included in the space is a documentation stand, a table and a chair.  For access please complete this form.

Whisper Room (MC 418 & 419)

A small sound proof recording booth is available for professional quality vocal/instrumental recording. Included in booth is a microphone stand and a microphone pop filter.  You should reserve a microphone and recording device from the Media Center.  For access please complete this form.

 

CERTIFIED Access Labs

Digital Editing Lab (MC 819)

The Digital Editing Lab, located in the MacLean building room 819, is intended for advanced audio or video editing or post-production. The lab has robust computers with software that includes Final Cut Pro X, Max 6, Pro Tools, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe CS6, etc, as well as Cintiq monitors and pens at each station. 

Students can be certified by completing the quick online course here. After the course is completed, you will receive an email with a link to a Google Form that must be completed in order to fulfill your access to the lab.

Once you are certified, you will be able to reserve a space in the lab through the Media Center’s Patron Portal under the ‘Room Reservation’ checkout center.  You MUST reserve a computer station in order to use the lab. Your Articard ID will allow you access to the room during your reservation time.

Media Center Documentation Space (280BLDG 110)

This shooting space is intended as a clean room for documenting work or shooting photo/video. This space is not for the creation of any type of wet or dry media, class or group meetings, musical performances, or lectures. Included in the space are colored backdrops, installed LED lighting, c-stands, sandbags & other grip equipment.

Students can be certified by completing the quick online course here. After the course is completed, you will receive an email with a link to a Google Form that must be completed in order to fulfill your access to the lab.

Once you are certified, you will be able to reserve the Documentation Space through the Media Center’s Patron Portal under the ‘Room Reservation’ checkout center.  Your Articard ID will allow you access to the room during your reservation time.

PHOTOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT

Photo Department Shooting Space (280BLDG 202)

Key card checkout from the 280 Building Media Center. The 202 Photo Shooting Space is intended as a clean room for documenting work or shooting photo/video. This space is not for the creation of any type of wet or dry media, class or group meetings, musical performances, or lectures. Included in the space are colored backdrops, c-stands, sandbags & other grip equipment. There are three separate shooting spaces which includes a smaller space intended for any photo department patron to check out for daytime use. To gain access to this space, patrons must be authorized through their photo class and currently enrolled in photography classes.

Photo Facilities (280BLDG 204)

The Photo Facilities operate as a workspace for the photography department. The facilities include a black and white darkroom, a film processing room, an alternative process space and a state of the art digital lab. To gain access to these facilities and the associated equipment, students must be certified through a photo class and currently enrolled in photography classes.

FILM, VIDEO, NEW MEDIA & ANIMATION DEPARTMENT

Digital Editing Lab (MC 519)

Software package includes Final Cut X, & After Effects Production Bundle, Adobe CS6, Quartz composer, etc. Access is limited to students enrolled in specific advanced FVNMA classes.

Animation Labs (MC 714, 717)

Lab comprised of computer stations with editing and animation software. Animation stands and light tables are also available. Access is limited to students enrolled in specific advanced FVNMA classes.  Reservations can be made via Patron Portal using the “Room Reservations” Checkout Center.

Shooting Space (MC 311)

The 311 Shooting Space has collapsible green floors and walls. Included in the space are a seamless backdrop, grid lights, light stands, etc. Access is limited to students enrolled in specific advanced FVNMA classes.  Reservations can be via Patron Portal using the “Room Reservations” Checkout Center.

Shooting Space (MC 1306)

The MC 1306 is a black box shooting space. Included in the space are a seamless backdrop, ladder, grid lights, light stands, etc. Access is limited to students enrolled in specific advanced FVNMA classes.  Reservations can be made via Patron Portal using the “Room Reservations” Checkout Center.

New Media Workspace (MC 807)

Equipped with Blackmagic Intensity Pro card for video feed to and capture from Sandin Image Processor. Access is limited to students enrolled in specific advanced FVNMA classes.  Reservations can be made via Patron Portal using the “Room Reservations” Checkout Center.

SCULPTURE DEPARTMENT

Computer Lab (280BLDG 122A)

Key card checkout from the 280 Building Media Center. This digital output lab features large Wacom Tablets for 3D design. This room is also a Smart Classroom for regularly scheduled Sculpture classes. Access is limited to students enrolled in these specific Sculpture classes
