Extradisciplinarity and collaboration are key ideas embedded in Outside Design. These concepts can be seen for example, as The Living worked together with the Ali Brivanlou Laboratory to pair design and embryology in the Amphibious Envelope, and Ants of the Prairie worked with a biologist to create the Habitat Wall.
The exhibition has sparked lots of discussions between SAIC students. On Thursday, September 24, Drea Howenstein’s art education class, Art of Crossing the Street, came by for a tour and then exchanged ideas with curator Jonathan Solomon. Earlier this month Professor Howenstein also stopped by with her classes Art as a Social Force and Multi-level Projects.
