Liquid Diet

by Martha Poggioli

As one of our most fundamental human needs, water is an increasingly scarce resource that has the potential to divide people and place by defining borders and inciting conflict. Liquid Diet is a low-functioning water fountain that considers the looming state of our global water supply. Cast from silicone and taking formal cues from industrial water infrastructure systems, Liquid Diet explores water as a valuable and vulnerable commodity.

Martha Poggioli’s practice reflects upon and generates from industries of production and cultures of consumption, speculating upon process, ethics and value systems. Concerned with the design and choreographic interactions of people, places and things, her work seeks to uncover new typologies through the reconsideration of teleological possibilities.
