Champions, Underglaze on ceramic, risograph printing, and offset printing. 2020
These works are the product of a two year long intensive study into the sport of baseball. Sports and play are integral to being human. By creating stories featuring real players as well as imagined ones, the books, prints, and pottery become homages to the many players who have shared a piece of themselves by playing a professional sport. The body of work also focuses on exploring ideas of masculinity and loving other men, no strings attached, a fantasy world which the artist is kept from but longs to be included in.
The large plate was thrown by Dylan Palmer and decorated by Andy Lattimer.
