I think most could agree that if humans are capable of unconditional love its template is drawn in that of a mother to her child.

My current work takes the form of hats, head coverings that are replete with history and connotation. These hats are meant to display characteristics of particular aspects of love that I see as primary in each of my sisters as well as my mother. The black color in the current pieces, is the unifier, our ʻsisterhoodʼ. Each hat corresponds to a particular sibling ( protector, teacher, spiritualist, nurturer, introvert, extrovert and so on), each may have the others’ traits to varying degrees.

The un-patinated plaster of the arms for me signifies the purity of a mother’s unconditional love. The upright palms also may allude to those of a universal Mother holding up and nurturing our collective sisters, as well as brothers, of our world.
