Yuri Ahn is an artist and designer working in Chicago. She interprets diverse conversations of inner sides of humans in restrained yet sensual ways. She embraces conflicts between educable and uneducable identities – disgrace, shame, bald, and obscene, stating these conflicts can function as an outlet for innate origin. Rather than decorative expression, She creates a restrained and calm mood by eliminating superfluous elements through compression, tear, and confinement. Her works represent happenings taking place in human consciousness and unconsciousness. Yuri creates works through the incorporation of installation and site-specific practices. She recently presented her work at the window for the Fashion department in SAIC and Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago. She majored in fashion in Kyung Hee University and worked as a Technical Designer in Korea. She is a 2016 candidate for the Master of Design in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
